Does My Cylinder Need Repairs?

Leaking hydraulic oil is one of the most obvious signs that your cylinder is due for repair. If you’ve been noticing oil leaks or wet spots or have been adding fluid, you most likely have a leak.

Hydraulic leaks, usually a result of worn seals, are harmful for various reasons. They waste expensive hydraulic oil, reduce power in your machine, and risk the introduction of dirt or moisture into your hydraulic system.

In addition to leaks, other signs of cylinder damage are excessive heat, loss of efficiency, or a piston rod showing wear on one side.

How Much Does Cylinder Repair Cost?

It can cost anywhere from $50 to a few thousand dollars to repair a hydraulic cylinder. The price varies with the size of the cylinder and the amount of repairs needed but we will always give you a fair deal.

Although the initial cost of cylinder repairs can sound steep, the advantages of fixing a cylinder far outweigh the costs. Oil consumption will go down, saving time and money, and your machine will also operate more efficiently, improving the life of various parts.

After repairing a cylinder, we torque the nut and gland to the proper specifications. Finally, before reinstalling a cylinder, we can pressure test it to make sure the repair was done correctly.

At times a cylinder is so worn it is more cost effective to simply replace it. If we find this to be true of your cylinder, we will be happy to order in a new one and install it for you.
