Frequently Asked Questions about Trailer Repairs
Worn or faulty brakes and broken wiring are the most common problems.
At least once a year—unless you use it daily and put a lot of miles on it. In that case, every six months is recommended.
If the brakes aren’t engaging properly or if you have to turn your brake controller way up to get minimal braking, it’s time for a service.
You usually can't tell just by driving. Jack up your trailer and spin the wheels—listen for noise and check for looseness.
Start by checking the ground wire to the trailer. Also, inspect the fuses on your tow vehicle. Many vehicles have separate fuses for trailer taillights. Just because the vehicle lights are on doesn't mean the trailer has power too.
Replace them when the tread is down to 2/32" or if you see fine cracks on the sidewalls—this is known as dry rot.
Peace of mind while towing, and the confidence of knowing your trailer is ready to go when you are.
Many trailer repairs can be done yourself. We can provide parts and tips on what to check and how to do it right.
Check that all lights are working, brakes are applying properly, and wheel bearings are neither loose nor noisy.
We offer state inspections, wiring repair or replacement, brake controller diagnostics, brake and drum service and adjustments, wood flooring replacement, tires, lights, and more.
